Automating My Financial System

My Automated Financial Setup

Most financial advice tells you to be more disciplined. I have found that discipline is a finite resource that runs out by Friday. Instead of trying to be better with money, I built a system where I do not have to think about it at all. Aside from one manual transfer on payday, my entire financial life runs on autopilot.

The Payroll Hub

Everything starts when my salary hits my Mandiri payroll account. My only manual task of the month is moving that lump sum into Bank Jago. From that moment on, the software takes over and I can stop worrying about where the money goes.

The Rent Lock

About 18% of my income goes toward rent. I automate this into a money market fund on Bibit, specifically the Seruni III fund. I chose this because it is not an instant withdrawal fund. This creates a psychological lock that prevents me from dipping into the rent money for a random purchase. It sits there and earns interest until the day the landlord is due to be paid.

Wealth on Autopilot

The largest chunk of my budget, around 45%, is auto-debited into the Sucorinvest Mixed Mutual Fund on Bibit. I do not check the market and I do not try to time the dip. By automating the buy, I remove the emotional hurdle of deciding if today is a good day to invest. Every day is a good day when the script runs itself.

Managing the Daily Burn

About 27% of my income is dedicated to daily needs. To keep this in check, I automate a daily allowance from a Bank Jago pocket to my GoPay wallet. If the wallet is empty, I stop spending for the day. This replaces the need for a complex spreadsheet because the balance in my wallet tells me exactly where I stand.

Administrative Cleanup

The remaining 10% stays in Jago pockets for electricity and subscriptions. These payments are scheduled and triggered automatically through my debit card. I never have to worry about a late fee or a service being cut off because I forgot a due date.

Configuration Over Discipline

This system works because it accounts for the fact that I am human and prone to impulse. By automating the good habits and adding friction to the bad ones, I do not need to be disciplined. I just need to stay well-configured.
